Alleviating the Shidduch Crisis — in the USA and in Israel
We all have heard of the "Shidduch Crisis." Is there a solution? No one knows, but efforts are being made in the USA and in Israel to do something.
New Beis Din of Kohanim
In an impressive meeting in the home of HaRav Chaim Kanievsky and with the blessings of HaRav Shalom Cohen, president of Moetzet Hachmei HaTorah of Shas, a new body has been established bearing the name "Mamlechet Kohanim" which will supervise the various aspects of the sanctity of kohanim in hospitals. This is following long years of pain and frustration on the part of the many thousands of kohanim throughout the country.
Visit Only Shomer Shabbos Sites on Outings
In anticipation of the various educational institutions, resort areas, camps and day camps which will seek places of recreation this summer, the members of the Vaad HaRabbonim for Kedushas HaShabbos, established and under the aegis of our Torah leaders, have issued a public awareness call to assure that visits be made only to recreational areas which are Shomer Shabbos.
Torah Makes us a Nation — Thoughts Before Shavuos
The sacred yeshivos, and the possibilities of modern day education for all of our children and offspring in Torah institutions without limitation, constitute the very underpinning of the preservation of the Jewish people. Without yeshivos, there cannot be a Jewish nation. It is our obligation to see that the yeshivos continue their objective of Torah learning without hindrance to the students, each one inclusive.
Shavuos
In preparation and anticipation of the giving of the Torah, the following is an excerpt from HaRav Meir Tzvi Bergman's classic work, Sha'arei Orah explaining how Torah must be transmitted. This was originally published in 5760 (2000), but the content is universal and classic. He explains that Torah transmission is not just knowledge, but experiential. This is something that is important to us every day.

<!----- SPARKS------ The Transition from Nishma to Na'aseh — The First Steps Toward Practical Observance
The Spark of Inspiration
This meeting typifies the period of ikvevse deMeshichah. Fired by holiness, a pioneering group have had the boldness to cross the lines and enter the homes of people whom they were sure bore them animosity, but who instead turn out to be their friends. They, in turn, are as surprised by our visits in order to learn Torah with them, as we are by the warm and open reception which they extend to us.

<!---------------------------- IN-DEPTH FEATURES Memories Of The Aliyah To Yerushalayim On Chol Hamoed Pesach 5704
By Yisroel Spiegel Part II
In 5704 (1944), while World War II was raging in Europe, Agudas Yisroel in Eretz Yisroel arranged for a special aliya laregel during chol hamoed of Pesach. Thousands came to the special event. Many of them arrived on a special train that was chartered for that purpose. The high point of the trip was a gathering in Batei Machseh Square in the Old City where the leaders of the yishuv addressed those assembled. Moishele

<!-- NOTICE: --><!--Additional Luach Information
The Shabbos after Tisha B'Av, parshas Voeschanon, is called Shabbos Nachamu because of the haftorah in Yeshaya 40 "Console, console My people" that is read on that Shabbos. This haftorah starts a series of shivah denechemtoh (seven haftoros of consolation).
The fifteenth of Menachem Av (Tu B'Av) is considered a Yom Tov because of several reasons: First, it is the day that bnei Yisroel stopped dying in the Sinai Desert. Second, bnei Yisroel were then allowed to marry from one shevet to the other, and those from shevet Binyomin were allowed to marry within bnei Yisroel. Third, on this day Hoshei'a ben Aloh removed the barricades originally put up by Yerovam ben Nevot preventing bnei Yisroel to be oleh regel. Fourth, bnei Yisroel then stopped chopping down wood for the mizbeiach and therefore they had more time to study Torah. Sixth, on this day those killed in Beitar were buried. --> Click here for conditions of use.
