I am a newbie when it comes to Magento and I was tasked with syncing our live magento 2.2.7 site with the staging. ( Copying changes from live to staging). We are using apache 2 on a cloudways, Linux server . Cloudways has a staging management tool that is suppose to make this process easy however I am running into alot of issues .
My latest problem is the error message below when I try to compile or upgrade the site :

Path
"/home/119528.cloudwaysapps.com/afdsqjqxmc/public_html/production/app/
etc/" cannot be used with directory
"/home/119528.cloudwaysapps.com/afdsqjq
xmc/public_html/production/app/etc/"
Due to my lack of experience with magento , I am not sure where to head from here . FYI , the frontend seems to be working but the backend ( Admin Dashboard) is blank. Please let me know what you guys think.
