Joseph Jacques Jean Chrétien PC OM CC QC (known as Jean Chrétien) (born January 11, 1934), is a Canadian politician who was the 20th Prime Minister of Canada from November 4, 1993 to December 12, 2003, and leader of the Liberal Party of Canada from 1990 to 2003.
Biography |
Jean Crétien was born on January 11, 1934, in Shawinigan, Quebec.[1] His Parents were Wellie Crétien and Marie Boisvert. In 1957 he married Aline Chainé, and they had 2 sons and 1 daughter. During his political career, he served as the Minister of Parliament for Shawinigan, the Minister of Justice, and Deputy Prime Minister. In 1990 he became leader of the Liberal Party, and in 1993 he was elected Prime Minister. He served as Prime Minister until his retirement in 2003.
